Development & Product Manager - Team Payments

About the role

This is a brand new role at Hemnet where you will be leading the development team responsible for our payment flows and transaction solutions. This team doesn't exist at Hemnet yet and hence you’ll play a big part in building it. You’ll be part of Hemnet’s leadership community and the development management team.

The team, which will consist of you and four developers, will be responsible for a greenfield endeavour, building reliable payments- and transaction flows supporting customer payments, invoicing and accounting reports, and you'll be heavily involved in how this is done the best way possible. 

This role includes three areas of responsibility: 

Leading the team 

You’ll lead your team by creating great conditions for the team to deliver value and build technically stable solutions. You’ll develop our agile way of working with the team, to make the job more fun and more efficient and work with recruitment, coaching, development, feedback, salary and goals setting, etc. 

Owning backlog and priorities

Our other development teams all have a product manager represented by our product organization. This team is an exception and you as Development & Product Manager will own the backlog and set priorities, in cooperation with your team. 

Architectural responsibility

You will, in consultation with our Technical Director, be overall responsible for architectural solutions and decisions and make sure we move forward - always in consultation and tight cooperation with your team. This could be questions such as which APIs we should build, or not build, or how independent the platform should be. 

Who we are looking for 

This is a role with varying responsibilities and we are looking for someone who enjoys working with technical decisions as much as building great teams and helping team members to develop and thrive. 

We are looking for you who have: 

  • Experience in leading development teams 
  • A background as a developer or architect 
  • Great knowledge about API design

It’s a big plus if you have worked with technical solutions for payment flows (e.g. Klarna), invoicing, and financial reporting. It’s also great if you have experience from building development teams from scratch. 

The leadership as Hemnet is characterized by transparency, participation, support and guidance. Our managers help their teams rather than steer them. Hence we think it’s important that you and your leadership style would fit well into that description. 

Who we are

Hemnet is a big brand but a pretty small company of around 120 people who are passionate about helping people find their dream home.

We work in small teams and work actively to share experiences and knowledge with each other. We try to come up with new ideas, question ways of doing things, collaborate and have fun every day. Personal development and the desire to test new ways of working are things we encourage, as the goal is that these lessons and experiences can help us to get even better together. Roughly 60 of us are working within our development department where we are divided in six, soon to be seven, cross functional teams with different competencies- infrastructure, development, user research, UX/UI and data analysis. 

In our office in central Stockholm, the atmosphere is relaxed and playful. We work in a collaborative environment with shared breakfasts, AWs, conferences, lab days and competence groups.
